Well I'm back! There has been wrestling news since my last post. Captain Lou Albano and Umaga passed away. Outside wrestling Captain Lou also had a stint in Hollywood where he played Mario in the popular Super Mario cartoon show and in the 80's played Cindy Lauper's father in one of the most popular music video's of the 80's Girl's Just Want Have Fun. Umaga's sucess came mostly through wrestling. His most famous match came at Wrestlemania where Vince McMahon hand picked him to take on Donald Trump's wrestler, Bobby Lashley. In a loser gets their head shaved match. Lashley won however and McMahon got his head shaved. But still one of the most memorable moments in wrestling.
Also the Hulkster Hulk Hogan is making his return to wrestling as he has recently signed with WWE's competion TNA Wrestling. His first appearance is scheduled for January 4, 2010.

Fantasy Football
I'm usually a little behind the times. I just got an ipod a few months ago. I didn't start blogging untill I had to for a class. I still haven't joined twitter. I never did join myspace.
And well I just now starting doing fantasy football.
My team name is The Perverts. This weekend I'm against The Dick Lickers managed by the man who talked me into joining, Carl. I do have a delima this week as both my quarterbacks are hurt. McNabb from PHI is definitely out and Hasselbeck from SEA got hurt last Sunday and very well might not play this weekend. I'm trying to organize a trade if that doesn't work I'm thinking of picking up Buger from the Rams. Nobody seems to want him. I figure this week is their home opener aginst GB. maybe it won't be so bad. Plus Hasslebeck will surely be back the next week then McNabb will be availble the week after that so it's really just 1 week that I need to worry about Bulger and the Rams blowing it for me.
I'd like to show the standings so far for our league. Week one I defeated Brandon. Week two I wasn't able to hold off Craig. And like I said this week it's Carl, who right now as it stands, is the favorite to win by roughly 5pts. Below the standings I'll show our match up and how yahoosports predicts it will go. Keep in mind though that if Hasslebeck is unavailable I'm picking up Bulger.

An Update
It's been 2 months since I last posted anything. I figure it's about time I did....It turns out wrestling stories might be even fewer now as the top 2 wrestling shows won't be available to me for awhile as I'm taking a Monday night Spanish class that will prevent me from seeing RAW and Springfield no longer carries MYTV which aired Smackdown. So that's out as well...The past few months have been rough. I almost thought about writing something on here about it but I elected not to as I'm afraid it would really do more harm than good. So I'm trying to move on with my life and see where things go.
Till next time!
Adios Amigos!
BTW I finally got a picture up. Hopefully I'll add more info on my profile in the fairly near future as I also hope to get on here more often.

MJ
Welcome to my first nonwrestling post. But don't worry there will be plenty of wrestling news in the future.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to talk about Michael Jackson.
I've always loved his music and that's what I know him for. And I hope everyone else feels the same.
I have a theory. Tell me if you think I'm crazy, but MTV was originally designed to be Music Television. Eventually at some point MTV drifted away from their roots and today rarely show music videos. And while I'm sure there are other factors but 1 of those factors I truly believe is that Michael Jackson wasn't only the King of Pop but the King of Music Videos. With what most consider the biggest of all-time Thriller, and Smooth Criminal, Black or White, Billie Jean, Beat It, Bad, Remember the Time, and could go on and on and on. and when his popularity declined it caused music videos as a whole go down and that could be why MTV has changed their format.
Another point I wanted to make was I've been hearing people criticize him for how his popularity went down. I even heard some say that the Bad album was a disappointment. But I mean let's get real here. Thriller was the biggest album ever. There was no way to actually top that in sales. But it did have more #1 singles than Thriller did. Then when Dangerous his popularity slipped a little more. But so what?! the debut single from that, Black or White was the #1 song for 7 weeks the exact same amount of time Billie Jean was #1 when it first came out. And he still had I believe 5 more top 10 hits from Dangerous. So I don't believe someone can call it a failure. It just the way things go. Once you reach the top it's natural to slowly but surely decline a little and there's nothing wrong with that.
Take a look at movies. Wouldn't you say that 90% of the time the original is usually the best then the sequels while maybe not quite as good but still good enough?
Or is it just me?

Comings and Goings
Some big changes have taken place just in the past few weeks Mr. Kennedy made his return then got his release from the WWE and is already rumored to be negotiating with WWE's rival company TNA. And he's not the only one Umaga also made his long awaited return only to get released after his scheduled Samoan strap match last Sunday against CM Punk. Vickie Guererro Raw's GM sent her notice to the WWE that she was leaving the company to spend more time with her kids. And it is also being said that Rey Mysterio is unhappy and could possibly be leaving. However that's not set in stone yet. Jeff Hardy, one of the most popular stars in WWE, it was recently said that he could be leaving by the end of the summer.
So with a lot of important people leaving that means a lot of replacements too. Right now the one I'm hearing most about coming back is Chris Masters, who was let go due to a steroid scandal. I always liked him though. I'm glad he's coming back. If hated everybody who did steroids I wouldn't be a wrestling fan. Chances are more are guilty of doing it that we know about. For instance it is believed by some that Batista's current injury is a cover up for his suspension for using steroids. I don't know. I'm just telling you what I heard!

A lot has been said about the tag team division lately. TNA's champions The Dudley Boyz have criticized WWE's weak division. And what they say is very true. It would probably be disbanded if it wouldn't cause such an outrage among the fans especially the traditionalist. The Raw and Smackdown brand unified the titles at Wrestlemania in a match that wasn't even seen on the ppv itself instead they decided to make it an extra for people who buy the dvd.
While WWE usually ignores TNA's criticisms. It certainly looked like this week WWE listened with several tag matches. Not to mention the 10 man tag main event on Raw. ECW, Vince's weakest brand, seems to be pushing the new hart foundation, Cryme Tyme got plenty of air time this week, and perhaps and interesting scenairio when Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Hass, who have been fighting in singles competion for quite some time reunited this week. I don't know if they're planning to keep them together full time or not but the fact that they fought together not just once but twice this week does make me wonder. Back in the days of Team Angle they were a very very good team. Not to say there's anything wrong with the current champions The Colons, but they do need some more established teams like TNA does with the Dudleys, Motorcity Machine Guns, Beer Money, The British Invsion, and Lethal Consequences.

WWE vs. NBA part 2
In a follow-up to my last post. WWE Monday night Raw found a new home for there show this coming Monday. Ironically at the Staples Center in Los Angeles where the Lakers play. The main event that night will be a 10 man tag match where the 5 heels, lead by Randy Orton, will be wearing Denver Nugget jerseys and the 5 heroes, lead by Batista, will be wearing Lakers gear.
In a possible switch of plans originally Ric Flair was going to call out Randy Orton that night. It looks now as though Vince McMahon himself is going to be doing the calling out as he is still furious at the Denver Nuggets owner. He plans on calling him out. Even though I think it's pretty obvious he won't show with his team playing in Denver that night. WHATEVER Vince!

WWE vs. NBA
Why am I still doing this? Well I like doing it! Even if Kirsty and maybe Marcie are the only ones reading this anymore I can't ignore this story about the double booking at the Pepsi Center in Colorado....
The buzz surrounding the conflict for next Monday night in Denver with Raw scheduled to run at the Pepsi Center and the Nuggets and Lakers scheduled to play Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals at the same time, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon appeared on ESPNEWS to talk about the situation. Jonathan Coachman conducted the interview with his former boss. Coach mentions that Vince is never one to step down from a fight. Coachman mentions that next week’s Raw at the Pepsi Center was booked in August, but the contract was not signed until April. Vince says that Stan Kroenke should be arrested for impersonating a good businessman for booking a WWE television show when their team would not have been in the playoffs. Vince suggests that the fans of the Nuggets had more faith in the team than their management. Vince says that it is not good business to not support your own team. It is also not good business to throw the WWE out on its ear when there were no tentative dates or provisions in the contract that they signed. Coach mentions a statement from the Nuggets that they were trying to deal with the conflict. Coachman asks Vince what they are trying to do to work things out and Vince suggests a steel cage match against Kroenke. He says that it will settle everything. Coach asks if Vince will be in Denver on Monday. Vince says that the WWE trucks are on the way to Denver and it looks like there are going to be two events in the Pepsi Center. Vince says that the person at fault is Stan Kroenke. Vince says that it is unfair for the way that he treated the Nuggets fans and the WWE. He says that it is not fair to book the WWE event at the same time as the NBA playoffs. Vince holds up a Lakers shirt and says that he wants to personally give it to Mr. Kroenke. Coachman asks Vince if they will go to the NBA to resolve this problem. Vince says that NBA put it back in the Nuggets’ court because the Nuggets never presented it to the NBA as a booked date for scheduling purposes. Vince McMahon came off well while it seemed at times that Vince was cutting a promo with the number of times that he mentioned Stan Kroenke’s name. It looks like it could be a very eventful Memorial Day in Denver

PLAYBOY
WrestlingObserver.com reported early this morning that former WWF and Portland Wrestling star Playboy Buddy Rose (Paul Perschmann) was found dead by his wife on Tuesday afternoon. Rose, who was extremely heavy the last time I saw him in 2005, had been dealing with diabetic issues in recent years. Rose originally broke into the business in the old Verne Gagne AWA, having been trained by Gagne and famed shooter Billy Robinson. He went on to become a true star heel for Don Owens' Portland Wrestling. In his 2002 autobiography, Roddy Piper credited Rose for helping put him on the map in the Portland area, providing him a forum to hone his interview skills and become a true main eventer. Piper noted in the book that Rose invited him to come work the territory. Piper initially turned him down as he had been working regularly in Los Angeles, then reconsidered and took the job, setting him off to stardom. Rose worked for the WWF at different points in his career. He was pushed as a top heel at one point in the late 1970s, including a series of matches against then-WWF champion Bob Backlund. Rose also wrestled on the first Wrestlemania event as the masked Executioner, losing to Tito Santana in the opening contest, becoming the answer to an immediate trivia question. Rose's final run with WWF was as an undercard comedy heel who was out of shape, setting the stage for the infamous "Blowaway Diet" vignettes. During that run, he mostly worked comedic opening matches on house show, playing off his weight by doing jumping jacks and other exercises while on offense. The vignettes were so silly they ended up becoming memorable among fans. Rose, who was considered a good talker and great bumper, also held the AWA World Tag Team championships with Doug Somers in 1986, defeating Scott Hall and the late Curt Hennig. They later dropped the belts to the then-Midnight Rockers, Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty. What is believed to be Rose's last match took place at the first WrestleReunion convention event in Tampa, Florida in January 2005. Rose, long-time close friend Col. DeBeers (Ed Wiskoski) and Bob Orton lost to Jimmy Valiant, Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka in what was billed as Valiant's retirement match. This was billed as Jimmy Valiant's retirement match.

Hogan's hero O.J.?
Linda Hogan walked out on her husband last year, filed for divorce, forced him out of his $18 million mansion, allegedly started spending the couple's money at the rate of $40,000 a month and is dating "some shaggy-haired pool boy 30 years her junior." Hogan told Rolling Stone, "I could have turned everything into a crime scene, like OJ, cutting everybody's throat. You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can't go to anymore, you're driving through downtown Clearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with your wife . . . I totally understand OJ. I get it."
"I could have turned everything into a crime scene, like O.J., cutting everybody's throat," Hogan said. "You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can't go to anymore, you're driving through downtown Clearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with your wife..."I totally understand O.J. I get it."Hogan has since backtracked on the statement as his P.R. rep, Elizabeth Rosenthal, told E! News that he "in no way condones the O.J. situation.""As part of a larger conversation, he referred to it to exemplify his frustration with his own situation," Rosenthal said in a statement released to E! News.Linda's rep, Gary Smith, issued a statement on her behalf, reacting to Hogan. "Hulk's serial cheating destroyed our marriage, our family and our future," Linda said in a statement released today. "Sadly, his recent comments remind us that his definition of fair is much different than what the law dictates.""We have always maintained that the fear that Linda has had to live with comes from the rage and instability much too often associated with pro wrestlers," Smith added."We have always maintained that the fear that Linda has had to live with comes from the rage and instability much too
often associated with pro wrestlers," Smith said. "Linda and her family are taking these recent homicidal comments seriously. Linda's attorney Ray Rafool is weighting all options necessary to protect his client."Additionally, tonight's episode of Showbiz Tonight on CNN Headline News will feature a segment on the story
Linda Hogan's representative Gary Smith sent the following to Wrestling News World: Linda Hogan Comments On Hulk's Death Threats“Hulk thinks he can do whatever he wants, to whomever he wants, whenever he wants. He is your classic narcissist who demands total control and will go to ANY extent necessary to get it. His violent and scary mood swings have been my nightmare for too many years. I hope for the sake of our kids that he gets the psychological help for himself and the safety of others. “states Linda Hogan.“For those who buy his claim the comment was taken out of context, read the rest of Rolling Stone and determine for yourself if his suicidal tendencies coupled with the use of drugs and alcohol make him a danger. His actions in the past years have been very disturbing. Linda wants all of this to be over so she can move on with her life,” states Linda’s rep Gary Smith.Gary Smith on behalf of Linda Bollea

Wrestlemania 25
This past Sunday over 70,000 fans packed the arena in Houston Texas to witness Wrestlemania 25! However Wrestlemania is a weekend event and it kicked off Saturday night with the annual Hall of Fame ceremony. This year's inductions included "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Terry & Dory Funk, Bill Watts, Howard Finkell, Koko B. Ware, and The Von Erich family represented by the only surviving member Kevin Von Erich.
Then the event contained celebraties like Kid Rock, The Pussy Cat Dolls, and Mickey Rourke.
The main event this year was for the WWE title where HHH was able to hold off the #1 contender Randy Orton. So, to update last week's blog the WWE heavyweight title has changed hands in 14 of 25 Wrestlemania's.

Bar Fight
I've been wanting to eventually do a backyard wrestling story and earlier today I just happen to catch something on Fox News. Kelly's Court discussed a situation in Washington state where a local bar was putting on wrestling without a license to do so. Should this be Ok? Is wrestling a sport or entertainment? are the 2 main topics that came up on the show.

RIP Test
This past week wrestling lost one of it's great stars from the late 90's and early 2000's,
Andrew Martin. He wrestled under the name Test. If you aren't much of a wrestling fan you still have probably seen him. He played Sabertooth in the first X Men movie.
The cause of death is still uncertain, but here is what 2 Florida newspapers are reporting:
The St. Petersburg Times is reporting police officers discovered prescription drugs, including painkillers and steroids in the apartment of Andrew "Test" Martin. Police were called to Martin's home when a neighbor had become suspicious after watching him lie motionless on a couch for hours. Police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said Martin was in the middle of a meal when he died as there was a half-eaten pizza and soda nearby his body.
The Tampa Tribune reported that "prescription drugs, including painkillers and steroids" were found by authorities in Andrew "Test" Martin's apartment in Tampa. To read the article, click here.

Martin was found dead in his apartment Friday evening. A toxicology report is pending but is not expected back for several weeks

The Partridge Family
There's a couple of things I could talk about this week Dwayne Johnson "The Rock" hosted Saturday Night Live this past Saturday and his movie Escape to Witch Mountain opens soon.
Several wrestlers hosted VH1's top 20 countdown this past weekend. My topic of choice however is going to be Danny Bonaduce.
The following is from tnawrestling.com:Total Nonstop Action Wrestling announced today that Philadelphia-based disc jockey Danny Bonaduce will have his first pro wrestling match on Sunday, April 19, at Lockdown, inside the lethal six-sides of steel.Bonaduce, the former wise-cracking son on the 1970s television series The Partridge Family, is the morning drive DJ on WYSP (94.1 FM) in Philadelphia.TNA Wrestling executives would not comment on who Bonaduce's opponent will be, but confirmed that the TNA Wrestling Superstar will be in Philadelphia next Friday, March 20, for the official Contract Signing, to be held on-air during Bonaduce's radio show

Wrestling Hollywood
In what was quite possibly the most tragic event to occur since 9/11 Mickey Rourke lost his bid for best actor to Sean Penn and Marisa Tomei lost to Penelope Cruz in the best supporting actress category for their roles in The Wrestler at the Academy Awards last night.
I did learn that Hulk Hogan was offered Rourke's role perhaps if he got it he would have won.
To prove I'm not lying here's the interview he gave to the LA Times:
source: www.pwtorch.com-- In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Hulk Hogan reveals that he was asked to play the lead character in The Wrestler. Hogan claims he was sent the script and considered for the part of Randy "The Ram" Robinson. He read it a few times when it crossed his agent's desk, but passed on the movie. Nonetheless, Hogan believes Mickey Rourke did a great job in the film."The movie got made and they cast Mickey Rourke," Hogan said. "I thought he did a great job."While Hogan was complimentary of Rourke, he wishes Rourke could have had 30 years of wrestling experience to tell a more accurate story."I don't think the public could have handled it, though," Hogan told the Los Angeles Times. "Just made me realize after seeing the movie with Mickey Rourke that if someone does the real Hulk Hogan movie, you better hang on for the ride, brother."In his eyes, Hogan believes the whole movie is shock value. He fears the public perception of professional wrestling will be tainted by the film's view of the business."Made me realize how shock value - that just the drop of reality - can have an effect on the public," Hogan said. "It was wrestling light. Very light version of wrestling."When talking about blading, Hogan said there are wrestlers who blade 25 to 30 times per week. He also said he has friends who do staple gun matches similar to the one in The Wrestler 300 nights per year.

Road to Wrestlemania
This past Sunday was World Wrestling Entertainment's pay per view No Way Out which leads up to the granddaddy of them all Wrestlemania 25 which takes place April 5th. At No Way Out we saw what's never been accomplished before when Adam Copleland aka Edge lost the WWE heavyweight title to Paul Levesque better known as Triple H, then later on that same night win to World Heavyweight title from John Cena.
Also it was just announced that WWE will becoming to West Plains Missouri March 22nd on the road to Wrestlemania tour. Where the man himself Edge will be there.

A taste of things to come
This is my first blog for our Editing & Publishing class. I will be talking about prowrestling on here. It's something I've been a fan of since I was 9. In the weeks to come I will let you know what the business is like. I am aware of one former wrestler in Springfield who now owns a jewlery store. He wrestled under the name Mike Papas and teamed several times with Andre The Giant. His real name, and I'm probably mispelling it is, Manolli. And I plan to learn what I can from him. And there will be much much more as the weeks go on.
